Baylor Talent Identification Program

Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development

Mission

The Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, established in 1999, is committed to transforming potential into excellence through innovative educational opportunities, research, and outreach.

Vision

We focus on the intellectual, academic, social, and emotional needs of gifted children and adolescents in Texas, and assist those who parent, teach, and otherwise work with them. We aspire to be a leading resource on giftedness, talent development, and creativity that is known regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Center Initiatives

1. Talent Development: The Center provides advanced courses for gifted students to develop expertise and talent. The courses will largely be during the summer but will also include Super Saturday programs as well. The Center also offers online courses using Zoom or a similar platform.
2. Professional Learning: The Center hosts professional learning opportunities in gifted education, talent development, and creativity for the audience of educators and other service providers (e.g., counselors) in gifted education. Professional learning are offered in conferences, distinguished lecture series, symposia, and online learning opportunities.

Through Baylor TIP, students can receive personalized advising that focuses on their continued talent development. Depending on their grade level, students may receive help understanding their test scores and selecting appropriate high school or college classes that match with their talents and interests; exploring extracurricular and summer options for continued talent development; and determining and applying to the types of colleges, majors, and careers that may best serve their needs. Advising meetings occur virtually and will be scheduled for times that are convenient to both the student and the TIP advisor. Families purchasing an annual block of time will work with their assigned advisor to determine the specific dates and focus of each meeting.
